How can I see a cat available for adoption?

How much money does adopting a cat or kitten cost? Does the price differ? What is included?
The price to adopt either a cat or a kitten is the same and it is $70 for one cat or $100 for two cats. Included in this fee are the costs associated with testing cats for feline leukemia and feline aids, vaccinations, and spay/neuter. All you have to do is fill out our application, buy the necessary supplies for having a new cat (e.g., cat food, litterbox, kitty litter, etc.), pick up your kitty, and then begin enjoying your life together in your new forever home!

Have all the cats and kittens had all their shots and been spayed/neutered?
Yes. All cats and kittens are current on vaccinations and have either been spayed or neutered when adopted. If a kitten is too young to have been spayed or neutered by the time of adoption, the cost of spaying or neutering is included in the adoption so you need to bring the animal back to us to be spayed or neutered once it is old enough. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled for you at the time of the adoption and it is YOUR RESPOSIBILITY to bring the kitten back to us to be spayed or neutered at no additional cost to you.

What if I end up not being able to keep the cat or kitten for some reason?
We always accept cats and kittens back if animals are unable to be successfully adopted. If, for any reason, you decide not to keep a cat or kitten PLEASE BRING THE CAT OR KITTEN BACK TO US!!! We are a no-kill shelter; we never euthanize healthy cats or kittens. Please bring them back to us and don't take them to a shelter where they could be euthanized or, worse, simply abandon them. It is our goal to provide every cat or kitten with a forever home.

Can I bring my cat or kitten to you to be adopted?
Yes! But you do need an appointment with us. Do NOT just drop off your cat or kitten or just walk in with them! Our space is limited and we cannot accommodate every cat at a moment's notice.

About 90% of the felines we offer for adoption come from the public. We are a no-kill shelter; we never euthanize healthy cats or kittens. We would be happy to accept your healthy cat or kitten for adoption and would much prefer that you bring them to us as opposed to a shelter that might euthanize them. Our mission is to provide forever homes for homeless cats and kittens. Please call us at (910) 329-4700 to set up an appointment. PLEASE CALL TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! Space is limited at our clinic and we do not take drop offs on a walk-in basis, so be sure to call us first!

Where do your kittens and cats come from?
About 90% of the cats and kittens we offer for adoption come from voluntary surrenders of cats or kittens. Our kittens are raised in fosterhomes by loving families where they are hand bottle-fed by our nurturing volunteers. Animals that do not come from volunteer surrenders also come to us by way of local county shelters, particularly the New Hanover County Animal Shelter. Regrettably, the Pender County Animal Shelter (our home county) euthanizes most of its cats and kittens before we can rescue them. You can help reduce the number of local euthanizations by supporting Purrfect Pet Adoptions.

Can I have my cat or kitten microchipped before I adopt them?
Yes. We are housed in a full-service veterinary hospital, Surf City Pet Hospital. Dr. McArthur-Wicks would be happy to microchip your cat or kitten for a fee.

Do you ever need volunteers?
Do we ever! We are always in need of volunteers to help care for cats and kittens and, most especially, to serve as foster families for young kittens not yet ready to be adopted. We are also in need of volunteers with talents they would like to offer the organization - perhaps serving on the Board? Please contact us at volunteer@purrfectpetadoptions.org to volunteer your time and someone will email you promptly.

Do you accept donations? How can I help?
There are several ways you can help the felines of coastal southeastern North Carolina. You can, of course, donate money to the organization using PayPal (echeck, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover accepted). All donations are tax-deductible. You can also donate materials to Purrfect Pet Adoptions. We are always in need of kitten food, kitty litter, and several other products. To see our "Help Us Out" page, click here.
